i am going to tell tis story to the class for storytelling:
Once upon a time, there lived two misfits named Ketot and Gagap. They lived in a town named Tampines. Both of them found that it is hard to mix well with the other cool kids around the neighborhood. The other kids are nasty and deserted them. Ketot is always made fun of his height. He was the shortest among his peers and he has a small voice that is similar to an alien in the show 'Mars Attack'. The other kids would always bend their knees to exaggerate Ketot's height and make silly alien noises like 'tat tat tat' to annoy him. On the other hand, Gagap had speech defects. Gagap would stutter all the time. Although Gagap is a pleasant looking person and physically well built, girls would avoid him.
Despite their unfavorable conditions, each of them had their own ambitions. Ketot wanted to be a prestigious and renowned chef working in a five star restaurant with his own cook assistants. Due to his lack of height, it was a problem for him to cook without standing on a stool. Gagap has an aspiration to be a Mediacorp Actor acting in local dramas and to be a famous celebrity but his speech defects would fail him whenever it is his turn to read his dialogue line.
However hard they tried to be perfect, they never succeed. Ketot asked his dad "Father, what should I do to make myself tall?"His dad raised his left eyebrow and looked at Ketot straight in the eye and replied "Try hanging yourself by your hands using the monkey bar at the playground…….although it never worked for me maybe it would work for you son." Everyday Ketot would hang around at the playground and kept whishing to grow taller. Passer by would laugh horribly and point their fingers towards Ketot saying how dumb he looked just trying to get tall. After months hanging around, in the end, all that hanging did Ketot no justice. He was still the same height as he began.
Gagap went to numerous speech training courses to get help. The tutors from the various courses would get fed up and stressed up trying to cure Gagap from his speech defects. Because of Gagap, a lot of them left and quit their jobs. Gagap had spent a lot of money on speech defect treatments and still did not show improvement in speaking clearly.
Both of them went to Bugis Junction to chill out and tried ever so hard to forget their problems. After buying coffee, both of them sat down and talked for hours. They were deteriorating and depreciating themselves. Finally, they planned to commit suicide by jumping off from a tall building.
They went to the national library and had a smoke first before going in the library. They pull long puffs of smoke and had made their selves feeling dizzy and high. Their minds are set and they took a lift to the 13th floor of the national library building. Standing beside the glass window with the triangle sticker, they planned their landing area. Without any hesitation, they marched slowly away from the window. With all their might they ran heading towards the window.
Out of nowhere, a vacuum hose was thrown cutting off the pave for them to jump. They stopped, turn around and look at the old Indian man who threw the hose. The old Indian man smiled and winked at them, telling them that he has what they were looking for.
Ketot and Gagap followed the man to his office which is a cleaner's room. There they sat down on the floor and receive their individual gifts. "I know what you want....you want to be tall....and you want to talk smoothly" pointing his finger at Ketot and Gagap faces. Both of them were stunned and they bowed down to the old Indian man in replying to say yes. The old man gave Ketot a red metallic shoe and said "This would make you taller...as high as you want…just click your heels 3 times and think how tall you want to be....okay?" “Thanks brother....but of all the colors.....why must you give me a red one?" replied Ketot with his fake smile. The old man did not reply Ketot instead he talked to Gagap. He reached out for a 1.5 liter bottle, which look like a chilled Coke bottle, from a cabinet behind him and poured Gagap a drink. "Here drink this...it would make you speak better....placed this in a fridge and keep it cool.....only to be consumed cold or at least with ice." Gagap did not question the old man and drank the water in one whole gulp. "This taste like vanilla coke" said Gagap with surprise. Gagap then realized that he spoke without any speech defects. "You are listening to Perfect 10 all hits all day 98.7fm...wow man I love my voice...oh thank you old man for curing me...you are the best" and he talked non stop with his new found confidence.
Both of them had what they wanted, forget about committing suicide and were ready to face the world and fulfill their ambition.
